About The Position

This position is a 1.0 FTE located in the Department of Teaching & Learning.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the full range of Virginia/APS K-12 subject matter areas.
• Knowledge of, and skill in applying, the theories, principles and practices of child development and education (K-12)
• Emphasis in Middle School English Language Arts; Curriculum Writing
• Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure with a Masters Degree endorsed in English.

Nice To Haves

• A Master’s Degree in Education or another field related to the essential functions of this class of work is preferred.
• Endorsed in Reading is preferred but not required.
• Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Willingness to work as part of a team.
• Current knowledge regarding language arts research, science of reading and practice.
• Current knowledge of language arts materials including core programs, supplementary programs, and literature. (world, British and American).
• Current knowledge of both group and individual assessment and how to interpret the results.
• Ability to lead team meetings and language arts committees as needed.
