The Prescott School District operates a 4 day school week (Monday-Thursday). This position requires the teacher to exhibit accurate knowledge of content and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of students' individual development, special needs, skills, and knowledge. The teacher will select and use appropriate resources, adhere to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans, and build coherent lessons, activities, and assessments. A positive learning environment, effective classroom procedures, and strong classroom management are essential. The role involves effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators to address academic and behavioral issues. The teacher will demonstrate high expectations, effective lesson delivery, strong questioning and discussion techniques, and provide timely, high-quality feedback. Assessment during instruction and flexibility in response to student learning are key. Reflection on teaching practices and making adjustments for student understanding and achievement are expected. Maintaining accurate records, managing classroom equipment and materials, and communicating effectively with families about student progress are also core responsibilities. The position involves participation in the professional community, continued professional growth, and professionalism with all stakeholders. Reporting suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse, enforcing administration policies, attending professional meetings and development sessions, and assisting in student supervision are required. The role may also include sponsoring extracurricular activities and performing other assigned duties.
