About The Position

This position is a 1.0 FTE located in the Department of Teaching & Learning. It requires current knowledge of language arts research, science of reading and practice, including core and supplementary programs, and literature (world, British, and American). The role also involves understanding group and individual assessment and interpreting results. The teacher will be expected to lead team meetings and language arts committees as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the full range of Virginia/APS K-12 subject matter areas.
  • Knowledge of, and skill in applying, the theories, principles and practices of child development and education (K-12).
  • Emphasis in Middle School English Language Arts; Curriculum Writing.
  • Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure with a Masters Degree endorsed in English.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s Degree in Education or another field related to the essential functions of this class of work is preferred.
  • Endorsed in Reading is preferred but not required.
  • Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
