English Language Arts Specialist (Grades 3-8)

About The Position
The English Language Arts Specialist supports students in grades 3–8 who are performing below grade level in English language arts. The position provides targeted instruction to strengthen foundational skills, build confidence, and develop the competence students need to succeed in grade-level English language arts. The role is dedicated to English language arts intervention and student progress and does not include lunch duty, bus duty, or other noninstructional supervision duties. This is a full-time, 10-month position reporting to the Executive Director.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
- Teaching license.
- Previous teaching experience and 3 years of proven experience improving academic outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of English language arts and effective instructional practices.
- Ability to support students with varied learning needs.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience providing English language arts intervention or working with students who are performing below grade level.
- Experience using assessment data to plan instruction and measure student growth.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction based on students’ English language arts needs.
- Identify skill gaps using assessments, classroom data, and teacher input.
- Develop and implement targeted intervention plans with clear learning goals.
- Use effective teaching strategies to strengthen English language arts.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to support mastery.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to connect intervention with grade-level learning.
- Maintain records of student progress and communicate growth and ongoing needs to teachers and families.
- Create a supportive learning environment that encourages persistence and confidence in English language arts.
