About The Position

We are seeking a passionate and collaborative Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to provide engaging, standards-based instruction while creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. The ELA Teacher will adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse student learning needs, utilize assessment data to guide instruction, and collaborate with partner teachers and the ELD team to help students achieve meaningful academic growth. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of secondary English Language Arts, excellent classroom management skills, and the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Valid Colorado Teaching License with appropriate endorsement(s) for the grade level and subject area taught.
  • Strong knowledge of English Language Arts content.
  • Understanding of educational research, learning styles, and instructional strategies appropriate for secondary students.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Ability to effectively teach in both individual and co-teaching models.
  • Ability to analyze student performance data and use it to guide instruction.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable utilizing educational technology.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and the broader school community.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Middle School ELA instruction individually and alongside partner teachers.
  • Develop lessons aligned with applicable Colorado Academic Standards.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student learning needs.
  • Develop written lesson plans and clearly communicate daily learning objectives.
  • Maintain high expectations for academic achievement.
  • Create an engaging classroom environment built around collaboration, communication, respect, and responsibility.
  • Utilize the PBIS model to promote positive relationships and student behavior.
  • Maintain well-paced instruction that maximizes classroom learning time and student engagement.
  • Assess students regularly and use results to identify students requiring intervention, on-grade-level instruction, or gifted and talented services.
  • Analyze student performance data and use findings to provide targeted instruction.
  • Evaluate students' academic and social growth and maintain appropriate progress records.
  • Collaborate with partner teachers to co-plan and co-teach.
  • Work with the ELD team to individualize and implement curriculum for second-language learners.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to establish annual student achievement targets.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities, intervention discussions, team meetings, and professional development.
  • Maintain positive communication and relationships with students, parents, and families.
  • Participate in school activities and functions that strengthen relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the community.
  • Maintain ongoing professional learning and development.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
