About The Position

This position involves teaching the district-approved English Language Arts curriculum to high school students. The teacher will be responsible for creating a safe and respectful classroom environment, employing diverse instructional techniques and technology, setting clear learning objectives, and utilizing various assessment methods. A trauma-sensitive approach is expected, along with professional communication with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues. The role also requires maintaining accurate records and performing other duties as assigned by the building administrator.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university required.
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a BA or BX endorsement or on an alternative path/route to obtain the required endorsement(s).
Must be highly qualified as defined by the Michigan State Dept. of Education.
Experience working with at-risk youth.
High degree of technology skills (Google Suite).
Willingness to learn the tenants of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS/RTI) and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS).
Desire to collaborate with peers and work as a team.

Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons and units.
Uses a variety of formative and summative assessments.
Takes a trauma-sensitive approach when working with students.
Communicates professionally to students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
Other duties as assigned by building administrator.
