About The Position

Green River College is seeking an English Composition Adjunct Instructor. The college serves a diverse student body with approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical, 15% Adult Basic Education, and 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses and serves a wide range of students including high school graduates, Running Start students, those seeking retraining, international students, English language learners, and Continuing Education students. The service areas are ethnically diverse, and the college is committed to enhancing and supporting a diverse campus environment, incorporating principles of equity to promote inclusive practices. Candidates should have demonstrated experience and expertise in supporting diverse populations and collaborating effectively. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in English or related field
  • Demonstrated experience to equity and inclusion in working with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and identities.
  • Availability to teach face-to-face two to four days per week

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching relevant course content in a post-secondary academic environment
  • Experience teaching in an online/remote modality, especially using Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas or Blackboard
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying and/or integrating equity and social justice strategies in an academic setting
  • Participation in current professional development opportunities
  • Demonstrated experience teaching ENBGL&101 co-requisite models, such as ALP (Accelerated Learning Program) or similar models

Responsibilities

  • Teach students to meet or surpass course objectives and help them to meet their educational goals.
  • Foster a professional, equitable, anti-racist, and culturally responsive environment, which is conducive to learning and demonstrates an awareness of the experiences and needs of the current student population.
  • Participate in evaluation processes as required by the CBA.
  • Adjunct faculty are welcome, but are not required, to attend division meetings and participate in division activities.
