About The Position

Dutchess Community College (DCC) is seeking part-time credit-free ESL instructors to provide high-quality, engaging instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to English-language learners. The ideal candidate will be comfortable and experienced working with a diverse and multi-cultural adult student body. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining an organized and supportive classroom environment, keeping accurate records (attendance, class rosters, academic progress), preparing and implementing effective lesson plans, and collaborating with other faculty and the coordinator on student/classroom issues. Opportunities are available for daytime and evening hours at the Family Partnership Center in Poughkeepsie and other locations in Dutchess and Putnam counties.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree plus TESOL Certification (or a minimum of 9 graduate semester hours in TESOL).
Minimum of 1-year ESL/EFL teaching experience.
Ability to work independently in designing dynamic classes.
Ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
Ability to positively interact with students from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in TESOL.
