About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Technologist provides technical support for municipal engineering projects through drafting, surveying, mapping, and engineering design services. The position is responsible for preparing engineering drawings and specifications, conducting field surveys, maintaining engineering records and GIS mapping, supporting infrastructure projects, and collaborating with City departments, consultants, contractors, and the public to ensure projects meet municipal standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • CADD or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma (or equivalent) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Strong knowledge of Computer-Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) related to municipal engineering and mapping.
  • Experience with surveying techniques and survey equipment (Total Station, GPS, Automatic Level).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) designation.
  • Experience working with municipal infrastructure projects and GIS mapping.
  • Demonstrated abilities in the use of ESRI GIS software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare computer-aided (CADD) engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct field surveys, collect and analyze engineering data, and provide construction staking and as-built information.
  • Maintain and update engineering records, maps, and infrastructure drawings.
  • Develop and maintain drafting, mapping, and digital submission standards.
  • Provide technical support and collaborate with City departments, consultants, contractors, utilities, and the public.
  • Assist with project administration, regulatory compliance, and other engineering-related duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
