About The Position

Engineering Technician is responsible for producing, testing, and operating prototype machinery. Designs and builds weld fixtures and assembly equipment, helps improve production welding and assembly issues as needed. Suggests improvements to current production models or prototypes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and 2-3 years of mechanical experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills to customers and employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Computer literate and the ability to operate a digital camera and video camera.
  • Ability to operate tools including, but not limited to: plasma cutter, general machine shop tools, electric testers, welding equipment.
  • Ability and knowledge in the areas of hydraulic and electrical systems including trouble shooting.
  • Ability to test products for functions and operation level limits.
  • Ability to assemble/operate company products.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with and use hands and fingers, talk and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb and balance.
  • The employee occasionally may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate welding equipment is preferred and/or the capability to learn or improve welding skills.

Responsibilities

  • Creates prototype and/or new parts for existing machines.
  • Perform tests on various machines.
  • Documents and records, test reports and any and all changes to the machines.
  • Follow through machine production with the following departments: Machine Shop, Welding, and Assembly and other departments as needed.
  • Organizes and inspects parts for Engineering.
