About The Position
NV5 is seeking an Engineering Technician for our Charlottsville, Richmond, and Roanoke VA location. Responsibilities include monitoring activities on construction sites and performing testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt pavement materials. A company truck, phone, and safety equipment will be provided at our office.
Requirements
- Basic math and writing skills.
- Strong work ethics
- Ability to work as a team player.
- VDOT Soils and Aggregate Compaction or a NICET Construction Materials Testing Level II certification.
- Offer is contingent on background report
Nice To Haves
- Some construction-related work history is preferred, but the company will train employees without work experience.
Responsibilities
- Performs In-Place Density Tests using nuclear density gauge, drive sleeve, or sand cone method.
- Aggregate Sampling.
- Concrete/Grout/Masonry sampling (including: air content; slump testing; visual observations; casting samples of concrete cylinders, mortar cubes, and grout prisms; and obtaining core samples).
- Also may perform asphalt sampling, backscatter tests, and coring.
