About The Position

The Engineering Technician will work closely with Industrial Engineers to support industrialization projects, automation, prototyping, and equipment troubleshooting. This role involves supporting machine testing, data collection, and analysis, as well as assisting in the research, design, and development of manufacturing processes. The technician will also be involved in troubleshooting machines and robots, creating troubleshooting guides, and performing prototype machining from blueprints and specifications. Additionally, the role requires coordinating analysis and tests for tools, machinery, and equipment, as well as product/process analysis for cost reduction and quality improvement. The technician will assist in processing new parts, identifying necessary parts and tools, and performing tool design drawings using CAD applications. They will also be involved in the re-engineering process of existing parts and troubleshooting tools in manufacturing for improved quality and tool life. The position operates under general supervision with a degree of creativity and latitude. Responsibilities include complying with all Federal, Local, and State government regulations, LISI Aerospace procedures, and HSE Procedures, including ISO 14001 standards. The role requires attending all provided training, adhering to HSE procedures, policies, and plans, and conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures. Employees must identify and report any known or suspected nonconformance to management immediately and continually seek opportunities to improve HSE performance. Waste elimination initiatives, such as EMS and recycling opportunities, are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 5 years equivalent combination of technical education and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of machinery and procedures
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering applications
  • Proficiency in computer skills necessary for the job function
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract concrete variables.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint
  • Evidence of “US person” is required under ITAR

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year certificate from college or technical school, preferred.
  • Computer assisted design (CAD) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work on project tasks assigned by engineers for mechanical and electrical fabrication.
  • Support machine testing, data collection and analysis.
  • Assist in the research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, production methods and production equipment.
  • Assist in machine and robot trouble shooting, create trouble shooting guide.
  • Work on prototype machining from blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications.
  • Coordinates the analysis and tests and/or sources and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Coordinates product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Assist with processing new parts and routines routed through the shop.
  • Identify parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
  • Assist engineers to perform tool design drawings with use of computer assisted design applications and programs.
  • Assist engineers to perform the re-engineering process of existing parts as needed for improved manufacturability.
  • Able to identify, perform and troubleshoot tools in manufacturing for improved quality and tool life.
  • Works under general supervision with a certain degree of creativity and latitude, as required.
  • Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • Responsibility for complying with ISO 14001 standards, aspects, directives and impact as related to the HSE policy commitments.
  • Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Required to identify and alert any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as EMS and recycling opportunities to elimination of production waste.

  • Pay Range: $25-34 per Hour
