About The Position

EDM is looking for an Engineering Technician who’s ready to get hands-on experience in both the field and the office. This is an entry-level role built for someone who wants to learn fast, work on real utility infrastructure projects, and build a strong technical foundation alongside experienced Engineers and Designers. Some days you’ll be behind a screen working in design software. Other days, you’ll be in the field collecting data in real-world conditions. If you’re looking for variety, growth, and practical experience — this is where it starts. The Engineering Technician supports engineering and design teams by assisting with field data collection, drafting, and basic technical tasks under close supervision. This role plays an important part in maintaining project accuracy, efficiency, and quality while developing core technical and professional skills.

Requirements

  • 0–1 years of experience (entry-level role)
  • Associate’s degree in Engineering, Drafting & Design, or GIS
  • Technical certificate may be considered in lieu of an Associate’s degree
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering or design internship experience preferred
  • Exposure to PLS-CADD or O-Calc preferred (not required)

Responsibilities

  • Perform entry-level technical tasks under close supervision following established procedures
  • Assist with field data collection for utility infrastructure projects
  • Support drafting and design efforts using AutoCAD and other engineering software
  • Use design and analysis tools such as O-Calc, PLS-CADD, and similar programs (training provided)
  • Perform basic technical work using Microsoft Excel, Word, and other office tools
  • Split time between office-based work and extended fieldwork, depending on project needs
