About The Position

This position is responsible for monitoring the Command Center daily for communication issues, updating and modifying settings in collectors, routers, and endpoints, and formulating plans for expanding AMI network equipment for system growth. The role also involves coordinating repair and maintenance of all AMI communication network equipment, assisting other departments with AMI communication issues, and conducting site inspections for joint use attachments. Additionally, the Engineering Technician will manage the permitting process for joint use attachments, including calculating and obtaining necessary aid to construction for make-ready work. This is a full-time position located in Summerdale, AL.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) or more years of progressively responsible experience in a related field.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently.
  • Ability to determine and prepare for the need for additional resources.
  • Ability to set and meet goals and objectives of the role.
  • Must demonstrate personal initiative and independent judgement and possess good decision-making skills.
  • Must possess good communication skills and possess the ability to communicate professionally, effectively, clearly, and pleasantly.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution and utility construction.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the Command Center daily for communication issues.
  • Update and modify settings in collectors, routers, and endpoints as needed.
  • Formulate plans for expanding AMI network equipment for system growth.
  • Coordinate repair and maintenance of all AMI communication network equipment.
  • Assist Communications, Metering, and Billing Departments with issues regarding AMI communications as needed.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify the suitability of power poles for joint use attachments and ensure adherence to approved standards.
  • Manage the permitting process for joint use attachments, including calculating and obtaining necessary aid to construction for make-ready work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
