About The Position

Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. With design, sales and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits’ products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Position Summary: The Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the transition of complex RF products-both passive and active, up to 110 GHz-from development into production. This position works closely within a cross‑functional team including design engineering, program management, quality, mechanical design, and RF test to ensure designs are manufacturable, testable, and reliable. The Engineering Technician independently sets up, operates, calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots RF and DC test systems, and serves as a key technical resource for qualification builds, production support, and failure investigations. This role also leads detailed analysis of customer returns following initial review by the Failure Analysis Team (FAT).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or international equivalent required
  • Technician Certification + 5 years of experience in RF Product Test, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in RF Product Test or related field
  • Understanding of Quality Certification Systems such as ISO 9001 and related
  • Familiar with a wide range of RF debug and test equipment
  • Strong communication verbal and written skills to work in a CFT environment
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership to drive high level tasks to completion
  • Ability to setup and operate DC and RF test equipment
  • Ability to read, write and orally communicate in English
  • Ability to read and interpret an assembly drawing
  • Ability to utilize electronic work instructions and assembly drawings
  • Ability to sit at a bench for an extended period of time
  • Ability to work under a microscope
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Power Point and Excel
  • Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and prevention procedures

Responsibilities

  • Supports and performs detailed failure analysis using advanced diagnostic tools and equipment (e.g., network analyzers, Keyence systems).
  • Interpret complex assembly drawings and schematics; provide detailed markups, feedback, and recommendations for design and process improvements.
  • Independently set up, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance on RF, DC, and automated test equipment.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment and work areas meet safety, cleanliness, and operational standards; act as a role model for best lab practices.
  • Configure and operate test setups for electrical and RF testing of components, subassemblies, and finished products.
  • Provide schematic and layout markups for prototypes and pre‑production builds to improve testability and manufacturability.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and debug engineering prototypes with minimal supervision.
  • Design and implement custom test setups for engineering evaluations and root‑cause investigations.
  • Record, validate, and analyze test data; ensure accuracy and traceability of results.
  • Plot, interpret, and summarize evaluation data to support engineering decisions.
  • Take ownership of lab equipment readiness and reliability, including troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop tuning patterns, component value changes, and other design optimizations to enable stable manufacturing.
  • Write and review test procedures, work instructions, and comprehensive test reports.
  • Train and mentor production technicians on alignment, tuning, and test procedures; provide ongoing technical support.
  • Interface directly with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve test‑related issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Support and complete product documentation, including Engineering runs and Final Design Reviews.
  • Contribute technical expertise during design reviews, qualification builds, and production readiness activities.
  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
