About The Position

Air Squared Manufacturing, Inc. is an OEM manufacturer of scroll type compressors, vacuum pumps and expanders for the medical, aerospace, fuel cell and power generation industries. Air Squared offers exciting career opportunities working on projects including NASA MOXIE, Leading Electric and Autonomous Vehicle OEM, DOE Clean Energy initiatives ranging from nuclear fusion and the Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-e), and other cutting-edge projects. We are looking for an Engineering Technician II who will assemble, test, and diagnose scroll compressor prototypes and associated test stands. This role supports engineers in transitioning products from prototype to production through hands-on assembly, test support, documentation, and feedback to improve manufacturability and quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of hands-on mechanical assembly or testing experience
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools
  • Experience with basic electrical wiring and troubleshooting
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field preferred
  • Experience in prototype or mechanical testing environments preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, and diagnose scroll compressors, vacuum pumps, and expanders using engineering drawings with minimal supervision
  • Help develop and document assembly and test procedures
  • Train production personnel on new assembly and test methods
  • Wire compressors and vacuum pumps to motor controllers using electrical schematics
  • Assist with selecting and setting up tools and test equipment for prototype and production use
  • Build, assemble, and maintain prototype test stands
  • Perform pressure and leak testing on compressors, pumps, and related equipment
  • Support RMA evaluations and prototype troubleshooting
  • Assist with transitioning prototype designs into production
  • Work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Perform quality checks on assemblies before shipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Lift and move materials and components weighing up to 50 lbs, with or without accommodation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
