About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to join our electrical ground support equipment group in our Chandler, AZ facility. Our electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) team supports our programs with the design, test, and sustainment of all EGSE and test support equipment hardware used in the integration and launch of our vehicles. Our EGSE team members work in a diverse set of roles across the lifecycle of a program. This is an internship position as part of the Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP), an approved SkillBridge Program. This program offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. Participants will be on-site, performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role, with on-the-job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40 hours per week. The program aims to provide fellowship-style job skills training, with the potential for transition to a full-time opportunity upon completion, serving as a pipeline for motivated military candidates. Interns will receive comprehensive training including professional development, leadership networking, and specific focus on NG leadership principles, company history, customer engagement, product overviews, and core job responsibilities. The goal is to offer a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of additional education and/or related experience
  • Active DoD Active Secret Clearance is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to perform occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to read system level electrical schematics and parts lists and identify basic electronic components.
  • Use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Forms, etc.).
  • Use of Microsoft Visio or other CAD software tools.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail when creating technical documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in related field of technology and 2 years of related experience
  • Use of basic electronics test equipment such as DMMs and power supplies.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow standard test procedures.
  • Electrical or Electronics related technical skills.
  • Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE), Special Test Equipment (STE), Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), or Hardware Integration Labs (HIL)

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering teams with the digital formatting and release of engineering documentation.
  • Manage the drawing release cycle and drive the process to completion.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to incorporate changes identified during the peer review cycle.
  • Format engineering drawings per best industry CAD practices.
  • Review Bills of Material (BOMs) for accuracy against engineering drawings.
  • Train technicians and engineers on the drawing release process.
  • Contribute to continuously improving our drawing release processes.
  • Review electrical drawings and documentation for formatting errors and consistency across programs.
  • Assist in organization of team resources (SharePoint page, training documents, team network file directory).
  • Maintain a Part Selection List (PSL) for Electrical Ground Support Equipment.
  • Actively and effectively participates and contributes in a positive manner while supporting team decisions and goals.
  • Supporting the engineering team with other technical tasks such as hands on testing.
  • Act with safety as your number one priority through every aspect of the role.
  • Complete day-to-day activities with oversight of senior engineers.
