About The Position

As an Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) Engineer III at Sierra Space, you will leverage your extensive experience and general expertise in specific areas of test engineering to lead and contribute to advanced testing and validation of aerospace systems and components. This unique position requires you to utilize electrical, mechanical, and software skills. While expertise in all three domains is not required, a basic understanding coupled with the ability to perform tasks in each area is essential. As an EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) Engineer at Sierra Space, you will create custom test systems that provide critical functions for an array of products. These include power systems supporting the Dream Chaser from test through launch and landing, as well as communications test racks used on satellite flat sats. Working with a broad range of teams, you will help define requirements, complete detailed designs, write software, and support execution. This role requires not only a diverse skill set but also the commitment to support entire test campaigns. Others will rely on your expertise regarding the electrical interfaces of vehicles and best practices for safely connecting equipment. The ideal candidate demonstrates a willingness to learn and take on new challenges that stretch their comfort level. Tasks include collaborating with teams to understand requirements, then designing equipment that exceeds expectations. This involves selecting high-quality components (such as DAQs, power supplies, and relays), creating robust wiring designs, and integrating everything through software to create seamless operation.
