The City of Rochester is seeking an Engineering Technician, also known as a Construction Inspector, for its Public Works Department. This role is crucial for ensuring that all public infrastructure is installed in compliance with project specifications and adheres to City, State, and Federal standards. The Engineering Technician performs senior-level technical civil engineering work, involving project and contract management for city, state aid, and federal aid administered construction projects, as well as consultant-designed infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include design, contract pre-construction review and administration, post-construction finalization of quantities, project oversight, surveying, staking, materials testing, inspecting erosion and sediment control, operating survey equipment, maintaining records, preparing record drawings, enforcing City ordinances, and performing field locates of City sanitary and storm sewers. The position requires regular communication and collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to make independent decisions while informing supervisors of unusual problems. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
