About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technician/CAD Designer to join its Land Development team. The role uses standard drafting practices and procedures, with strong attention to detail, to support a variety of engineering and construction projects. Under the direction of a designer or engineer, the Engineering Technician modifies and creates design plans and drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) programs. The position also performs basic design tasks and supports projects through drafting, design, and construction.

Requirements

Basic engineering knowledge and current knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes, and regulations.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and other discipline-specific software.
Basic mathematical skills and analytical abilities.
Attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to work as a team player.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam.
Willingness to learn and grow.
Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
Experience and knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Design skills and knowledge.
1–5 years of industry-specific Land Development experience.

Responsibilities

Review project scope and confer with the project engineer about tasks such as plan preparation, evaluation of field conditions, design requirements, and reports.
Use computer equipment, including engineering and design modeling software, to prepare engineering and design documents.
Support and communicate with engineers, project managers, and other supervisors throughout the drafting, design, and construction process.
Create, edit, and modify CAD drawings.
Apply Westwood CAD standards, practices, and procedures when creating and modifying CAD drawings.
Collaborate in a team environment.
Coordinate the filing, storage, and retrieval of drawings and documents.
Plot and check drawings.
Perform basic design tasks.
Take on other duties as assigned.
