About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technician/CAD Designer to join its Land Development team. The role uses standard drafting practices and procedures, with close attention to detail, to support a variety of engineering and construction projects. Under the direction of a designer or engineer, the Engineering Technician modifies and creates design plans and drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) programs. The position involves reviewing project scopes and coordinating with project engineers on plan preparation, field conditions, design requirements, and reports. The technician uses engineering and design modeling software to prepare documents, supports engineers and project managers throughout drafting, design, and construction, and performs basic design tasks. Requirements

Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
One to five years of industry-specific Land Development experience.
Basic engineering knowledge and current knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes, and regulations.
Intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and other discipline-specific software.
Experience and knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Design skills and knowledge.
Basic mathematical skills and analytical abilities.
Attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to work as a team player.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam.
Willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

Review project scope and confer with the project engineer about tasks such as plan preparation, evaluation of field conditions, design requirements, and reports.
Use computer equipment, including engineering and design modeling software, to prepare engineering and design documents.
Support and communicate with engineers, project managers, and other supervisors throughout the drafting, design, and construction process.
Create, edit, and modify CAD drawings.
Apply Westwood Company CAD standards, practices, and procedures when creating and modifying CAD drawings.
Collaborate in a team environment.
Coordinate filing, storage, and retrieval of drawings and documents.
Plot and check drawings.
Perform basic design tasks.
Take on other duties as assigned.
