This Engineering Technician operates in the District Laboratory Section, serving as lead worker and assistant to the Engineering Technician 7 in providing supervision to lower-level lab personnel. Requirements

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus three years of sub-professional engineering experience
• Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus three years of sub-professional engineering experience
• Eighteen semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics.

Responsibilities

• Serves as assistant to the Engineering Technician Supervisor in the supervision of the laboratory testing units.
• Performs special task assignments such as truck certification, PCC plant certification, annual inventory, sampling structural paint for other states, vehicle needs, and making recommendation for purchases.
• Trains, reviews, and approves work of lower level technicians.
• Examines test results and recommends acceptability of construction materials.
• Recommends solutions to technical problems occurring in the quality assurance program.
