About The Position

Client Mission Systems seeks an individual to join our high-performing team in an Engineering Writer position. Successful candidates will be able to fulfill engineering writing requirements for electronic systems, sensors, and radar systems in Elkridge, MD. The successful candidate will work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure in fulfilling the assigned role. As an engineering writer, the successful candidate writes, rewrites and/or edits technical publications covering operation and maintenance for sensors/systems. The engineering writer will research and compile information from contractual and engineering sources and develop technical publications that adhere to military specifications and standards. Published technical publications include hardware description, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting and repair, and parts information for a wide range of audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM discipline or related field or minimum of 7 years’ experience in military operations and maintenance with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks and information technology-based sensors/systems
  • Possess and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
  • Able and willing to perform physically demanding tasks in various environmental conditions
  • Able and willing to travel to domestic and international sites to support program tasks when/if required
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and detail oriented.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to publish materials in page-based, electronic (basic and interactive), and structured (HTML, XML, and SGML) formats and has experience writing to military specifications and standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Greater than 10 years’ engineering writing experience
  • Willing to obtain higher-level clearance, if required
  • Multi-disciplined – is also an experienced/certified military instructor

Responsibilities

  • Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical publications covering operation and maintenance for sensors/systems.
  • Researches and compiles information from contractual and engineering sources.
  • Develops technical publications that adhere to military specifications and standards.
  • Publishes materials in page-based, electronic (basic and interactive), and structured (HTML, XML, and SGML) formats.
  • Collaborates with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors, to develop and deliver sensor/system technical publications to varying levels of detail.
  • Conducts quality review of technical publications.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
