About The Position

This position will perform diverse and complex assignments in support of Kohler Home Energy product development and manufacturing. Assignments may include but are not limited to: test set up and testing, fabrication, assembly of fixtures/equipment, set up and running of data acquisition equipment for tests, conducting experiments, reporting/documenting results of tests.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in Electronics, Electrical, or Electro‑Mechanical fields
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, OneNote, Teams, and PC‑based test equipment
  • Ability to perform basic electrical engineering calculations and accurately interpret results
  • Familiarity with measurement tools such as oscilloscopes, basic electronics equipment, mechanical systems, transducers, thermocouples, and flow meters
  • Hands‑on fabrication experience and proficiency with hand tools
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles and testing techniques
  • Troubleshooting experience with electrical systems, power converters, and/or inverters
  • Strong communication skills with peers, engineering teams, and manufacturing
  • High attention to detail in task execution, testing, and report writing
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals and meeting deadlines
  • Capability to provide technical leadership through troubleshooting support, answering questions, and identifying root causes
  • Ability to understand and interpret basic written technical information
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with limited direction and incomplete information
  • Troubleshooting experience with electrical systems, power converters, and/or inverters
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks including climbing stairs, sitting, squatting, bending, and moving throughout various work areas during the workday

Nice To Haves

  • 5–10 years of experience in a test environment
  • Experience with internal combustion engines and/or alternators
  • Experience with hardware or software programming (a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Works with laboratory management to set technical direction.
  • Mentors and coordinates the work of other technicians.
  • Determines possible solutions to major lab issues and present recommendations to laboratory management.
  • Uses knowledge to suggest improvements to test and analysis methods to enhance information flow.
  • Anticipates and plans group and independent workload.
  • Delegates work to others to meet request deadlines.
  • Drives and encourages innovation in all other lab associates.
  • Set up and perform various tests based on Engineering direction and or written test standards.
  • Set up instrumentation, thermocouples, various sensors, data acquisition systems.
  • Analyze, interpret, document, and communicate test results.
  • Fabricate and assemble prototype devices for tests.
  • Develop new test set-ups and test methods.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and 5S of test cells, workstation, test equipment.
  • Demonstrate technical competency and participate in the continuous improvement process as it relates to your role.
  • Creates protocols for validation of product functions.
