About The Position

The Engineering Supervisor supports the Assistant Director of Engineering in overseeing daily engineering and maintenance operations while providing direct guidance, coaching, and leadership to Maintenance Engineers. This role is a hands‑on working supervisor responsible for ensuring preventative maintenance, timely repairs, safety compliance, and service excellence across the property. The Engineering Supervisor serves as a technical resource, role model, and first point of escalation for the Engineering team.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in facilities, building maintenance, or hotel engineering.
  • Prior experience leading, training, or mentoring maintenance staff strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational, technical, or trade certifications preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, life‑safety systems, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access elevated or confined spaces.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations.
  • Frequently lift, bend, kneel, crouch, push, pull, and carry equipment or materials.
  • Maintain a professional, warm, and service‑oriented demeanor with guests and colleagues at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate strong listening, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Lead by example while enforcing departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Comply with Accor policies, safety regulations, OSHA standards, and operational guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day supervision and guidance to Maintenance Engineers during assigned shifts.
  • Assist with training, coaching, onboarding, and performance feedback for Engineering team members.
  • Assign, monitor, and follow up on work orders, guest requests, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for Maintenance Engineers regarding technical issues or concerns.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a culture of safety and service excellence.
  • Support scheduling and coverage needs in coordination with the Assistant Director of Engineering.
  • Actively perform maintenance and repair work alongside the Engineering team as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance programs are executed accurately and on schedule.
  • Conduct routine inspections of guestrooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces to identify deficiencies.
  • Monitor equipment condition; resolve issues when possible and escalate larger concerns appropriately.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and guest requests, maintaining established response time standards.
  • Assist with snow removal and other seasonal property maintenance duties as required.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with OSHA, life‑safety, and brand standards.
  • Identify, correct, and report safety hazards or unsafe working conditions.
  • Support testing and inspection of emergency systems such as fire alarms, sprinklers, and emergency lighting.
  • Communicate effectively with the Assistant Director of Engineering regarding department needs, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in safety meetings, departmental training, and problem‑solving discussions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, inspections, and follow‑up actions.
  • Approach all guest and employee interactions with an attentive, friendly, and solution‑oriented attitude.
  • Ensure engineering responses positively support guest satisfaction and overall property presentation.
  • Assist other departments through lateral service when operational needs require.
  • Support capital projects, renovations, and sustainability initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Engineering or management.
