About The Position

The Engineering Supervisor is an effective problem-solver, facilitator, change agent, planner, innovator, resource, designer and project manager. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering department, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or another related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good technical understanding at a detailed level in all of responsible areas.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Concise, objective, and factual communication.
  • Structured, professional engineering approach to problem-solving.
  • Self-driven, objective-setting and completion-orientated traits.
  • Capable coach/facilitator/motivator.
  • Working knowledge of PC including Microsoft Office package.
  • Working knowledge of tool and die in a manufacturing setting including welders, brake presses, roll formers, punch presses, lasers, CNC equipment, and dies.
  • General mechanical and electrical knowledge including troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of machine programming systems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Inventor.
  • Use of MP2 to track machine components and labor cost related to equipment.
  • Knowledge of project planning database programs.
  • Knowledge of standard budget processes.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate leadership by championing Lozier’s Mission, Vision, and Values and living the Lozier Leadership Model.
  • Designs, implements, and reviews complex projects spanning multiple functions within organization.
  • Oversee distribution, CNC processes, metal fabrication, paint processes, welding, wood, facilities, packaging, and standards/process flow.
  • Organize process and equipment maintenance, upgrades, and new introductions to minimize manufacturing interruptions while obtaining optimal performance from systems and equipment.
  • Coordinate successful corrections to production problems using sound problem-solving techniques and practices.
  • Develop alternate methods or equipment changes to allow continued production during emergency situations.
  • Complete performance assessments of subordinates.
  • Communicate to all levels within organization throughout all steps of a project or tasks.
  • Apply processes, tools, and methods to improve operation, reducing operating costs, etc.
  • Develop a team that effectively and efficiently installs/changes processes for the safe manufacture of quality product in a productive manner.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor engineering staff, including employee personal growth within established grade levels, as well as training in new processes, tools, and equipment opportunities.
  • Ensure technical assistance is provided to support staff in complex technical matters.
  • Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings, and completing assignments.
  • Ability to work and interact well with others.
  • May oversee facility capital planning process in coordination with corporate capital plan.
  • General industrial or mechanical engineering functions as necessary.
