About The Position

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or two-year Engineering or Robotics degree (or equivalent) with related experience in the field of automation and robotics.
  • 6+ years of experience in machine design field.
  • Progressive experience in mechanical design, safety and automation.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to influence and motivate people within all levels of the organization.
  • Solid comprehension of mechanical, controls and pneumatic systems.
  • Able to prioritize projects concurrently in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret prints and have programming experience.
  • Proficient with basic math skills and conversion to metric system.
  • Knowledgeable on the basic parts for manufacturing machines.
  • Able to troubleshoot and problem solve machining dilemmas.
  • Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office Products.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize opportunities for improvements.
  • Able to inspire, motivate and guide employees.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Electromechanical experience preferred.
  • Experience with 3D SolidWorks CAD, SolidWorks PDM systems and 2D AutoCad is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor and direct mechanical engineers charged with creating, modifying and maintaining mechanical designs for machines, robotics, third party integration, and complete systems.
  • Promote a culture of high achievement and continuous improvement through goal setting and measurement.
  • Provide a recommended yearly staff training plan to Mechanical Engineering Manager.
  • Monitor and track individual team member performance and report any situation that may require documentation to the Mechanical Engineering Manager (sub-standard work performance, disciplinary action item, attendance issue, etc.).
  • Ensure that machine templates are properly used and make recommendations for maintenance and improvement of the templates.
  • Train staff on new templates and inform them of updates on a continuous basis.
  • Ensure that product line strategies are met on all mechanical releases, specifically for Platinum Line and Core Machines.
  • Coordinate short-term and long-term project planning as it relates to engineering activities to ensure proper resource utilization and timeline execution.
  • Facilitate team decisions on issues related to equipment concepting, safety, design, debug and qualification.
  • Assist with mechanical releases with Scheduling, Project Management and Electrical Engineers. These releases include CAD drawings, bill of materials, etc.
  • Report overall departmental performance, time-plan deviations, project risks, etc. to Mechanical Engineering Manager in a timely manner and propose methods that can reduce deviations and risks in the future.
  • Report machine performance or safety concerns to the Mechanical Engineering Manager. Follow safety standards as dictated by the relevant governmental entity (OSHA, local authorities, etc.).
  • Assist with standardized methods and documentation of engineering activities.
  • Implement and sustain engineering design strategy aimed at the best use of latest technology and industry standards across the organization as well as lifecycle management of major controls components.
  • Suggest improvements and propose new processes with the intent of reducing lead-time and costs.
  • Assist assembly floor and manufacturing to solve engineering problems.
  • Act to assist the Service Department in troubleshooting and solving machine issues in the field.
  • Act as a deputy for the Mechanical Engineering Manager in times of his absence.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned
