About The Position

MDA Space is seeking a motivated and talented Engineering Student to join their Industrialization department in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. This is a 4-month mandate, with a possibility of extending to 8 months, starting in September 2026. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Production Manager and be embedded in a team of AI&T Engineers and Technologists. The role involves participating in AI&T planning and improvement activities for the industrialization of antenna and satellite products.

Requirements

  • Must be working towards a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering (or equivalent) with two (2) years completed
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Good written and oral communication skills in French and English
  • Interest in aerospace and appreciation for challenges related to the space environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for metallic components and composite materials (machining, additive manufacturing, surface treatments, etc.)
  • Propensity to take ownership of tasks and projects, be adaptable to a changing environment, and an aptitude for balancing analysis with the need to act

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and review AI&T processes (PFMEA, identification of risks and deltas related to production, analyze key performance indicators of production cells)
  • Suggest and implement new technologies such as robots, vision systems, quality control and preventive maintenance tools in collaboration with the engineering and production teams
  • Participate in the specification, design, installation, and deployment of new tooling
  • Lead design for manufacturing (DFM) activities (mockup design and fabrication, leading multidisciplinary workshops, DFM reviews of flight hardware)
  • Define, publish, and maintain manufacturing process specifications (MPS), equipment operating procedures, and functional flows
  • Participate in program reviews (Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Manufacturing Readiness Review etc.)
  • Represent the production team during ERBs/
  • Support production after start-up
