About The Position

The Gallogly College of Engineering’s Office of Career Development for Engineers and Scientists (CDES) is seeking an Engineering Student Life Coordinator. This role involves advising registered student organizations (RSOs), coaching students in leadership skills, connecting students with employers, managing the Engineering Student Life (ESL) website, and supervising the ESL graduate assistant. The position requires close collaboration with faculty, student affairs staff, and the OU Career Center. As part of CDES, staff members at the University of Oklahoma enjoy various perks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases.
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate well and build quickly with students, faculty and staff.
  • MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • 48 months of equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels students and advises registered student organizations (RSOs).
  • Leads monthly meetings for student organization leaders.
  • Administers the internal student organization funding allocation process.
  • Conducts workshops and other special programs for students.
  • Serves as liaison with offices on and off campus.
  • Works with employers seeking to hire GCoE students.
  • Manages the fall and spring engineering career fairs.
  • Coordinates employer recruitment and networking events throughout the year.
  • Coordinates GCoE’s efforts with OU’s Career Center.
  • Researches, collects, and analyzes data.
  • Prepares reports or responses to inquiries.
  • Maintains office records.
  • Manages internal and external communication, including student newsletters, the ESL webpage, ESL’s presence on OU’s digital student engagement platform, and other publications.
  • Coordinates special events, including those related to fall and spring commencement.
  • Performs other duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
