Under direction, assists with various projects that may impact various citywide divisions, departments, stakeholders, or residents throughout the projects’ implementation and lifecycle. This role involves assisting with project planning, coordination, inspection, communication, and execution. The specialist will monitor and control project schedules, budgets, and scope, and develop documents for project requirements. Responsibilities include conducting research, coordinating project activities, engaging in quality assurance and risk management, and maintaining the quality of project documents and data. The role also involves developing tools and refining processes to enhance project efficiency, providing technical advice, participating in public meetings, and reviewing or preparing design plans for various construction and infrastructure projects. Additionally, the position requires coordinating site inspection and surveying projects, performing inspections to verify data and compliance, monitoring work progress, preparing completion certificates, issuing and tracking equipment, and performing special investigations such as researching property line questions. The role also supports public works and capital improvement projects, manages assessment records, and ensures construction documents are complete. A key aspect of this role includes supervising assigned staff, which involves scheduling, instructing, guiding, checking work, appraising performance, providing training, enforcing rules, counseling, motivating, maintaining harmony, interviewing applicants, and recommending personnel actions. Safety rules and regulations must also be enforced.
