About The Position

The Engineering Project Coordinator plans, coordinates and performs various fiscal, accounting and constructability functions for the City of Conroe's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Some duties are relative to general accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and generating requisitions. Other duties are relative to Assistant Project Manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of seven years related state or local government experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Texas purchasing laws.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to organize, plan and keep up with work schedules and employee assignments.
  • Ability to field investigate projects to assure proper and feasible design of public works projects.
  • Ability to visit sites and give engineering advice to city contractors or city departments.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of projects and prepare studies based on field conditions and economic alternatives.
  • Ability to review contractor/city staff progress of construction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to make effective presentations to various groups and assemblies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment.
  • A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required.
  • Safety-sensitive positions remain subject to random drug and alcohol testing after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates and performs various fiscal, accounting and constructability functions for the City of Conroe's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
  • Performs duties relative to general accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and generating requisitions.
  • Performs duties relative to Assistant Project Manager.
  • Interacts with consultant engineers and contractors to ensure schedules meet all City of Conroe deadlines.
  • Interacts with utility companies to facilitate new service and relocate existing services that interfere with new proposed city infrastructure.
  • Organizes, plans and keeps up with work schedules and employee assignments.
  • Field investigates projects to assure proper and feasible design of public works projects.
  • Visits sites and gives engineering advice to city contractors or city departments.
  • Recognizes the importance of projects and prepares studies based on field conditions and economic alternatives.
  • Reviews contractor/city staff progress of construction.
  • Communicates effectively, orally and in writing, and makes effective presentations to various groups and assemblies.
