Manager, Engineering (7378)

RADIANT GLOBAL LOGISTICS INC•Renton, WA
•$100,000 - $130,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Engineering Manager – API & Integrations leads the team and owns Radiant Connect, Radiant’s integration platform built on Node.js/TypeScript and AWS. The platform connects Radiant’s operating systems with customers, partners, and internal applications through APIs, event-driven data pipelines, and AI-facing services. Although SAP Transportation Management (TM) is its current center of gravity, the role supports integrations across transportation and freight-forwarding platforms, customer portals, finance and accounting systems, and customer, carrier, and partner applications. This is a hands-on, player-coach role. The manager contributes production code through design, implementation, testing, and code review while leading the team’s agile process, coaching and developing team members, and delivering API and integration requests from intake through go-live and ongoing support. The manager owns the architecture, roadmap, quality, reliability, and delivery of the platform and its services, and coordinates with internal teams, vendors, customers, and partners. Radiant Connect carries shipment data subject to ITAR and CUI requirements. The manager must ensure that access to such data is restricted to authorized U.S. persons and that systems, processes, and access controls meet applicable requirements. The position is full-time and on-site in Renton, Washington, with regular overlap with team members in the Philippines and occasional after-hours availability for production incidents.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. person: a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined under ITAR.
  • At least 7 years of experience in software engineering or systems integration, including at least 2 years in a management or technical leadership role.
  • Currently hands-on and able to contribute production code while leading a team.
  • Hands-on expertise in Node.js/TypeScript backend services and REST API design, including versioning, authentication, schemas/validation, and documentation.
  • Experience integrating multiple enterprise systems using APIs, event-driven messaging, file-based exchange, and data mapping/transformation.
  • Experience with AWS, such as ECS, Lambda, or CloudWatch, and CI/CD using GitHub Actions or similar.
  • Experience with event streaming/data pipelines such as Kafka or equivalent, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server.
  • Track record of leading distributed or offshore engineering teams with agile delivery.
  • Ability to translate business requests into clear technical requirements and provide a prioritized plan when work cannot be done immediately.
  • Strong written communication and discipline for asynchronous work across U.S. Pacific and Philippines time zones.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities; motivated, patient, positive, and proactive, with the ability to teach, motivate, and empower a team.
  • Able to work a full-time schedule of at least 8 hours per day, maintain regular overlap with team members in the Philippines, and occasionally be available after hours for production incidents.
  • Able to sit for extended periods, use a computer keyboard, mouse, and office equipment, and talk or hear; occasionally stand, walk, reach, and lift or move 15–25 pounds. Close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus are required.

  • Run the team's two-week agile sprints, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives; facilitate technical forums, design reviews, and code-review sessions.
  • Ensure work involving ITAR/CUI shipment data is assigned only to authorized U.S.-person team members, and prevent unauthorized personnel from accessing that data.
  • Own the Radiant Connect architecture, roadmap, and quality, including APIs and their version lifecycle, SDKs, document routing, Kafka-based ETL/change-data pipelines, replay and tombstone handling, and AI-facing services.
  • Contribute production code to design, build, test, and ship features and fixes on core integration services.
  • Serve as the primary technical counterpart to teams owning connected platforms such as SAP TM; define API requirements, validate endpoints, file defects, and coordinate test-to-production promotions.
  • Act as code-review and staging-release gatekeeper; prepare changes for production approval and establish coding, testing, and documentation standards.
  • Own evaluation practices that keep AI-facing services, such as MCP servers, safe and reliable.
  • Own API and integration delivery from intake through requirements, prioritization, development, QA, go-live, hypercare, and ongoing support, with defined service levels.
  • Review and approve platform-related business requirements documents and author technical requirements and solution designs.

  • Design and maintain protections for ITAR/CUI shipment data, including data tagging and segregation, role-based access, encryption, and audit logging, in partnership with DevOps, Platform Services, and Security.
  • Ensure API credentials, partner/customer onboarding, and AI-facing services do not expose ITAR/CUI data to unauthorized people or tools; train the team on handling requirements and support audits.
  • Immediately escalate and lead responses to suspected unauthorized access or data exposure.
  • Manage technical relationships with integration vendors and partners and collaborate with internal stakeholders across Operations, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Strategic Operating Partners.
  • Support compliance and security reviews of partner data flows, including API-client inventories, data flows, and data retention.
  • Perform other integration and engineering tasks as assigned.
