About The Position

Zachry Group is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to support a power generation project in a project-focused engineering leadership role. This position will provide technical leadership, coordination, and oversight of all engineering activities from project execution through completion. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring engineering deliverables align with project scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations. This role is project-specific and requires strong collaboration with project management, construction, procurement, and client stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline required).
  • 10+ years of engineering experience within EPC, power generation, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Previous experience in an Engineering Manager or Project Engineering Manager role on large, complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of power generation projects (e.g., combined cycle, simple cycle, renewable integration, balance of plant, or similar).
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage complex technical interfaces.
  • Experience working in a project execution environment (EPC or similar).
  • Familiarity with constructability reviews, modularization strategies, and field engineering support.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience working on Zachry or similar EPC power projects.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all engineering activities for a specific power project, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, budget, and contractual requirements.
  • Serve as the primary engineering interface between Zachry, the client, licensors, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Develop and manage the engineering execution plan, including deliverables, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate engineering inputs to support procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Manage engineering change control, ensuring impacts to cost, schedule, and quality are properly evaluated and communicated.
  • Provide leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary engineering team (process, civil/structural, mechanical, electrical, I&C, piping, etc.).
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and regulatory criteria.
  • Review and approve key engineering deliverables, including design basis documents, drawings, specifications, calculations, and vendor submittments.
  • Promote engineering quality, consistency, and best practices across the project.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with Project Management to support overall project objectives and execution strategies, including collaboration on budget and schedule.
  • Collaborate with Construction, Procurement, and Commissioning teams to ensure constructability, sequencing, and field requirements are addressed during design.
  • Provide insight over design tools, engineering data integration with construction, materials management, and procurement systems.
  • Support field engineering activities, including RFIs, design clarifications, and issue resolution.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and client presentations as required.
  • Champion Zachry Group’s commitment to safety, quality, and ethical standards.
  • Ensure engineering activities support safe construction, operation, and long-term maintainability of the power facility.
  • Support audits, reviews, and quality control processes related to engineering deliverables.
