The Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, staffing, and executing engineering projects and overseeing technical support services that deliver safe, cost-effective solutions for AEP’s new and existing power generation fleet. The role manages engineering resources and coordinates and supervises discipline-specific engineering work involving systems and equipment. It also provides employee direction and guidance to encourage continuous improvement, development, and talent retention, while ensuring engineering deliverables follow Engineering standard work and Quality Assurance procedures. The position leads and develops a multidisciplinary engineering and technical team supporting the aeroderivative and heavy-frame SCGT/CCGT portfolio. It leads engineering execution throughout the project lifecycle and integrates work among internal project, engineering, operating, and self-development organizations and external AE/EPC firms, OEMs, suppliers, and consultants. The manager oversees technical interfaces, design changes, deviations, nonconformances, engineering issues, and risks that affect safety, quality, cost, schedule, reliability, operability, or regulatory compliance. The role owns and maintains the New Generation EPC Specification for the portfolio, ensuring that it aligns with Engineering Services requirements, design criteria and standards, portfolio needs, and lessons learned. It ensures project engineering and design comply with applicable specifications, requirements, codes, regulations, permits, quality requirements, and contractual commitments. The manager leads design reviews and other technical activities related to safety-in-design, constructability, operability, maintainability, quality, commissioning, and startup readiness. The position promotes standardization and incorporation of proven solutions and operating experience into future projects and the EPC Specification. It ensures design-basis decisions, assumptions, engineering rationale, deviations, due-diligence findings, risk assessments, lessons learned, and other decision records are traceable throughout the asset lifecycle. It also ensures completed and acquired facilities have complete, accurate, organized, retrievable engineering records that preserve design intent and reflect the final asset configuration, and leads engineering turnover, closeout, and acquisition transition to support Operations, Maintenance, and long-term asset management.
