About The Position

This Engineering Manager will lead the new product development team for Trane Modular Chillers in Newberry, South Carolina with team members from North Carolina, South Carolina and Wisconsin. You will leverage global resources to design the next generation of modular cooling and heating products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline and at least 7-years of work experience with application of key hardware components within a refrigeration system (such as coils, fans, compressors, motors and/or controls) is required.
  • Understanding of HVAC system functions including refrigeration, heat transfer, airflow and ventilation.
  • Demonstrate consistently high leadership qualities, including the ability to influence and gain acceptance from members of cross-functional teams without direct authority, to deliver business results
  • Passion for team member development and coaching
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of product development processes
  • Must have the ability to quickly and efficiently understand, condense, and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize the needs of internal and external customer requests and deploy engineering resources accordingly to execute New Product Development, Productivity, and Quality and Reliability projects.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to product engineers and support staff including designers, lab technicians and other team members.
  • Ensure design integrity of engineering and design work.
  • Define skill requirements of direct reports and lead recruitment efforts to bring them to the team.
  • Create, maintain, and communicate project resource allocations and budgets.
  • Travel to various locations to support projects. Up to 10% travel expected.
