About The Position

Direct engineering and project activities for MWC, a state-of-the-art cheese and whey production facility. Ensure engineering projects, initiatives, and processes conform to established policies and objectives. Recommend changes, review progress, and approve cost estimates/proposals. Determine needed repairs for all equipment, buildings, and utilities, and plan/direct related maintenance activities in conjunction with production schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and three to five years related experience.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Utilize complex computer operations and advanced features of software packages (Autocad, MS Project etc.).
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Review and manage approved capital expense projects, verify progress/installation, and report status to management.
  • Track the Capital Expense (Capex) plan budget.
  • Act as a liaison between facilities and outside engineers and contractors.
  • Provide technical/engineering recommendations for new equipment/technology.
  • Maintain project documentation (drawings, programs, contracts) and transmit to facility upon completion.
  • Create CapEx proposals, including process design, scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Provide estimates, solicit proposals/quotes, and pre-qualify vendors/contractors.
  • Manage approved projects to meet performance, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts and Terms & Conditions.
  • Assemble teams of internal and external resources and manage the development of strategic projects.
  • Coordinate and direct day-to-day operations of the maintenance department, including determining needed repairs and improvements, establishing project priorities, assigning work tasks, and scheduling work to meet production needs.
  • Supervise and direct maintenance staff, including Maintenance Leads and Maintenance Scheduler, by providing training and development, monitoring and evaluating work performance, interviewing and hiring adequate staff, and disciplining staff as necessary.
  • Confer with architects, engineers, contractors, and other staff regarding maintenance projects.
  • Review utility usage and costs for electric, gas, water, and sewer billing and metering, and monitor energy conservation programs.
  • Document departmental activity through SAP (Maintenance Parts, Preventative Maintenance, and Work Order Scheduling), including preparation of various reports, work orders, maintenance schedules, and other record keeping.
  • Document the Maintenance Budget for Re-Occurring and Non-Re-Occurring Expenses.
  • Approve and supervise all outside service technicians.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and required tools and equipment.
  • Manage project teams and MWC Maintenance department engineers and maintenance teams.
  • Manage the Utilities Department, including day-to-day operations and project activities.
  • Manage the maintenance training program, including the Training Manager of Maintenance.
  • Develop a working relationship with the Glanbia Nutritionals (GN) team and support them in delivering objectives.
  • Manage administrative staff.
  • Utilize GPS processes, drive zero losses, and uphold the culture of MWC non-negotiables.
  • Comply with occupational safety and health standards and all applicable rules, regulations, and orders.
  • Comply with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Administration, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
