About The Position

The Engineering Manager leads engineering resources and technical activities within a precision machining environment, supporting both existing production and new product introduction. This role provides technical leadership across CNC machining, manufacturing engineering, process development, tooling/fixturing, and production support. The Engineering Manager works closely with operations, quality, programming, and customers to ensure complex machined components can be produced safely, efficiently, and consistently to specification.

Requirements

Advanced skills with Mastercam, Gibbs Cam, Espree or other CAM software, and CNC machine programming, setup, and operations.
Ability to machine parts to specification of .1mm to .0005mm tolerances working from CAD files, mechanical drawings, and sketches
Ability to read, understand, and create technical mechanical drawings, sectional views, part notes, dimensions, and tolerances
Expertise calculating/estimating machine cycle times, determining cost effective operation sequences, machinability, and feasibility
7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, machining, or a related precision manufacturing environment.
3+ years of engineering leadership or people-management experience.
Strong understanding of CNC machining, manufacturing processes, tooling, fixturing, and process development.
Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume and/or tight-tolerance machined components.
Proven ability to lead new product introduction (NPI), first article, prototype, and production-launch activities.
Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturability.
Experience troubleshooting machining and production issues using root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.
Ability to work cross-functionally with CNC programmers, machinists, quality, operations, customers, and suppliers.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop technical teams while managing multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.
Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
