About The Position

FloQast is seeking technical leaders who believe AI fundamentally changes software design, development, and operation. This role is for individuals who enjoy debugging distributed systems, reviewing architecture, mentoring engineers, and shipping production systems using AI-assisted development. The teams leverage advanced tools like Cursor and Claude Code to accelerate the process from idea to production. The role involves building a world where intelligent agents and LLM reasoning handle the complexity of global finance, focusing on AI as leverage for high-performing engineers to solve industry problems.

Requirements

8+ years of backend engineering experience.
Experience operating large-scale SaaS platforms.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and data models.
Comfortable debugging production systems.
Ability to write code if needed.
Understand the systems their teams build.
Comfortable reviewing complex pull requests.
Comfortable discussing architecture tradeoffs.
Comfortable guiding engineers through difficult technical problems.
Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar AI systems to accelerate development.
Experience mentoring tech leads.
Experience growing senior engineers.
Experience removing technical blockers.
Experience helping teams move faster without sacrificing quality.

Responsibilities

Manage a small team of strong engineers and tech leads working on the core FloQast platform.
Enable technical excellence and remove friction, not simply coordinate delivery.
Mentor Staff Engineers, Tech Leads, and Senior Engineers.
Unblock complex technical problems.
Drive strong engineering decisions across the team.
Design and operate distributed backend services.
Design and operate scalable data pipelines.
Design and operate highly reliable production systems.
Design and operate APIs and services powering accounting automation.
Build AI-driven workflow automation.
Build intelligent agents operating across accounting processes.
Build systems that integrate LLM reasoning with financial data models.
Actively use and define how AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) change software design, code generation, debugging, testing, and refactoring.
Actively participate in architecture reviews.
Actively participate in system design discussions.
Actively participate in major code reviews.
Provide technical mentorship.
