About The Position

The Engineering Manager is responsible for driving sustainable process improvements across manufacturing and operations using Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and robust process control methodologies. This role leads engineering teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost through data-driven decision-making, standardization, and continuous improvement. The manager serves as a key partner to Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance leadership to embed operational excellence into daily execution. This role also owns capital equipment strategy and execution, ensuring investments are technically sound, financially justified, and aligned with long-term operational goals. The manager leads engineering teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost through data-driven decision-making and disciplined project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or related field)
  • 7+ years of manufacturing or operations engineering experience
  • 3+ years of people leadership or technical leadership experience

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • Experience working in high-volume or complex manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with digital manufacturing, MES, and data analytics tools
  • Strong presentation and executive communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, SPC, and process control
  • Demonstrated success leading measurable operational improvements

Responsibilities

  • Lead site-wide and value-stream-level Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including waste elimination, flow optimization, standard work, and visual management
  • Champion continuous improvement culture, facilitating Kaizen events, problem-solving workshops, and cross-functional improvement teams
  • Apply Six Sigma and structured problem-solving tools (DMAIC, A3, Fishbone, 5-Why) to improve process capability and reduce variation
  • Establish, monitor, and improve key operational metrics (OEE, FPY, scrap, rework, cycle time, throughput, cost per unit)
  • Drive implementation of standardized processes and ensure sustainability through governance, audits, and layered process confirmation
  • Own and deploy process control strategies to ensure stable, capable, and predictable manufacturing processes
  • Define and implement SPC systems, including control plans, control charts, capability analysis (Cp/Cpk), and reaction plans
  • Partner with Quality and Operations to investigate out-of-control conditions and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics are identified, measured, and controlled across manufacturing processes
  • Provide coaching and training on SPC interpretation and data-driven decision-making
  • Develop and execute the capital equipment roadmap aligned with capacity, technology, and operational excellence objectives
  • Lead capital project planning and execution, including equipment specification, vendor selection, FAT, installation, commissioning, and ramp-up
  • Ensure new equipment and automation solutions are designed for process capability, maintainability, safety, and standard work
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure capital investments deliver expected performance and ROI
  • Drive post-installation performance validation and continuous improvement of capital assets
  • Own and manage the engineering operating budget and CAPEX budget
  • Build strong business cases for capital investments, including ROI, payback, and total cost of ownership analysis
  • Track capital spend against approved budgets and project milestones
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities through process optimization, equipment upgrades, and standardization
  • Support annual operating plan (AOP) and long-range capital planning processes
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing and process engineers
  • Set clear expectations through performance goals aligned to operational and strategic objectives
  • Build engineering capability in lean tools, process control, automation, and problem-solving
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with Operations Leadership to support production readiness, capacity planning, and line optimization
  • Support new product introductions, process changes, and equipment upgrades with a focus on manufacturability and robustness
  • Ensure engineering solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with operational constraints
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Automation teams to improve equipment reliability and process stability
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, PFMEAs, control plans, work instructions, and engineering standards
  • Ensure changes comply with company policies, safety requirements, and quality management systems
  • Support internal and external audits by demonstrating process control and continuous improvement maturity
