Requirements

8+ years of backend engineering experience
Experience operating large-scale SaaS platforms
Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and data models
Comfortable debugging production systems
Ability to write code if needed and understand the systems their teams build
Comfortable reviewing complex pull requests
Comfortable discussing architecture tradeoffs
Comfortable guiding engineers through difficult technical problems
Experience using tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar AI coding environments to accelerate development
Experience mentoring tech leads
Experience growing senior engineers
Experience removing technical blockers
Experience helping teams move faster without sacrificing quality

Responsibilities

Lead a small team of strong engineers and tech leads working on the core FloQast platform.
Enable technical excellence and remove friction, not simply coordinate delivery.
Mentor Staff Engineers, Tech Leads, and Senior Engineers.
Unblock complex technical problems.
Drive strong engineering decisions across the team.
Help the team design and operate distributed backend services, scalable data pipelines, highly reliable production systems, and APIs and services powering accounting automation.
Build AI-driven workflow automation, intelligent agents operating across accounting processes, and systems that integrate LLM reasoning with financial data models.
Actively use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI systems to accelerate development and guide their teams in doing the same.
Help define how AI changes software design, code generation, debugging, testing, and refactoring.
Actively participate in architecture reviews, system design discussions, major code reviews, and technical mentorship.
