About The Position

Lear Corporation is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Roscommon Plant. This role involves performing engineering work related to planning, devising, or adapting methods to improve manufacturing production. The manager will examine equipment, processes, operations, and assembly to determine time or quality revisions and suggest improvements. They will also evaluate vendor and supplier proposals for new equipment purchases, oversee the development, evaluation, or review of plans and criteria for various activities, and direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for assigned engineering operations and functions. The role includes assigning work activities, monitoring workflow, and evaluating work products. The manager will oversee and participate in a broad range of design activities, develop and improve manufacturing methods, and analyze workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow. They will review design conformance, coordinate improvement projects, and confer with management regarding manufacturing capabilities. Additionally, the manager will oversee facilities and equipment preventative maintenance and repair, act as a liaison to corporate engineering resources, create and manage technical budgets, and ensure operational key performance indicator (KPI) targets are met. The position also involves driving company standards, product launch and project implementation, advanced program readiness, supporting company growth through technical reviews and cost model inputs, and ensuring quality standards are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years working in the Engineering function
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of principles, theories, and practices of engineering
  • Knowledge of regulatory codes and standards such as GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act Administration), and NEC (National Electric Code), and NFPA (National Fire Protection Act).
  • Knowledge of Electrical Engineering in order to understand system interactions, sizing of equipment, and fuses
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC software, ladder logic
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent - Ability to modify and develop 2D layouts
  • Skill in using basic hand tools, and torque calibration tools
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Critical path management- Launch scheduling for Engineering disciplines
  • Knowledge of Project Management
  • Ability to use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions.
  • Ability to work with or contribute to a work group or team to complete assigned task(s).

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering work related to planning, devising, or adapting methods to improve manufacturing production
  • Examine equipment, processes, operations, and assembly to determine time or quality revisions, and suggests improvements
  • Evaluate vendor and supplier proposals for new equipment purchases
  • Oversee the development, evaluation or review of plans and criteria for a variety of activities such as downtime and change analysis and procedure development
  • Direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for assigned engineering operations and functions
  • Assign work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures
  • Oversee and participate in performing a broad range of design activities on a variety of projects including automated equipment, storm drainage facilities, lighting, landscaping, water production and distribution facilities, and buildings
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Review design conformance and accuracy of plans to coordinate improvement projects with staff, project managers, contractors, utility companies and other agencies
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
