  • 2+ years managing or leading engineering teams
  • Track record as a player-coach who has shipped code and led people simultaneously, ideally in a startup or fast-moving environment.
  • Deep understanding of modern development stacks (Python, TypeScript, React/Next.js, containerization, AWS) with a preference for simple, proven choices.
  • AI-native approach to work and building, with hands-on experience shipping with LLMs and using AI tools.
  • Strong product sense with the ability to question roadmap decisions and understand underlying goals.
  • Comfortable owning hiring end-to-end, from sourcing to closing candidates.
  • Comfortable operating without a playbook, moving with urgency, and treating company resources responsibly.

Nice To Haves

  • Security or cybersecurity product experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small, high-talent engineering team day-to-day, including one-on-ones, growth conversations, and establishing an operating rhythm.
  • Stay hands-on in the code, contributing to high-leverage work, reviewing PRs, and setting the technical bar by example.
  • Own engineering hiring end-to-end, including sourcing, interviewing, closing, and onboarding new engineers.
  • Run the engineering operating rhythm, including sprint planning, release coordination, and team rituals.
  • Partner with the CTO on technical strategy, architecture decisions, and tradeoffs.
  • Set and uphold a high bar for code quality, design reviews, and engineering practices.
  • Foster a team culture where engineers feel safe to share ideas, challenge decisions, and ship creative work.

Benefits

  • Meaningful equity
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion
