About The Position

The Engineering Manager will oversee product engineering operations and ensure that proper engineering procedures are followed. Provides direction on design and development activities to improve and/or modify new or current products. Selects design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement of existing ones. Broad comprehensive knowledge of technologies in different commercial vehicle industries. Plans and coordinates the work of engineering staff. Establish annual personnel goals and objectives. Determine career plan for each departmental employee based on capability. Establish the freedom of work through defined tasks and responsibilities. Encourage involvement in company functions to promote family concepts. Provide Education to Corporate Strategies throughout the organization. Oversee engineering staff and ensure that they meet goals and objectives. Recruits additional engineering staff as needed. Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Provides training and mentoring as needed. Consults with Chief Operating Officer and Manufacturing Manager to create long-range operating and manufacturing goals specific to the needs of the organization. Develop new products from concept to testing to production. Collaborates with sales/marketing to determine market potential for new products. Oversee progress and timeliness of projects. Reviews project reports to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget. Performs other related duties as required. Understands Hansen Patents and those of our competitors. This position will support the other departments within the company.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development.
  • CAD/Solid Molding experience with Solid Works (or equivalent) & 2-D drafting experience.
  • Broad comprehensive knowledge of technologies in different commercial vehicle industries.
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical and/or chemical engineering and 5+ years progressively responsible experience in engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic electronic experience is beneficial.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project is a plus.
  • Competence in project management (organization and presentation skills)
