About The Position

The Engineering Manager leads project engineering, design coordination, technical document control, constructability, and interface resolution for a large, multi-building construction program. The role ensures field teams receive timely, coordinated, and approved technical information to support safe, efficient construction. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Engineering Manager oversees Project Engineers and Field Engineers as assigned and serves as a technical liaison among engineering, design, procurement, and field construction teams. This is a full-time, project-based position that is primarily on-site, with a combination of office and field responsibilities. The Engineering Manager coordinates engineering deliverables and multidisciplinary design interfaces, maintains technical registers and schedule alignment, supports field execution and turnover, and leads consistent technical-review and document-control practices. The role also mentors engineering staff and supports project objectives related to timely technical reviews, constraint closure, rework prevention, field issue resolution, and complete as-built documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • At least 8 years of engineering and/or construction coordination experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading technical teams on complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of drawing and specification reviews, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, BIM coordination, constructability, and field engineering.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary building systems and resolving design-to-field interfaces.
  • Ability to work effectively in an active construction environment and comply with site access, PPE, safety, security, and training requirements.
  • Ability to work extended hours, early starts, weekends, or schedule-recovery coverage when required by project phase or project requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, where applicable.
  • Experience with mission-critical, power, industrial, or data center projects.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary MEP systems, commissioning, technical governance, and design-change management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering deliverables, drawing and specification reviews, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, technical queries, and design-change tracking across work areas.
  • Lead constructability and interdisciplinary coordination for secondary steel, building envelope, openings, interiors, plumbing, HVAC, elevators, firestopping, and adjacent electrical and fire protection interfaces.
  • Coordinate with EPCM and design teams on connection details, embeds, penetrations, foundation and structural steel interfaces, equipment clearances, and other schedule-driving technical constraints.
  • Facilitate BIM and multidisciplinary coordination reviews.
  • Ensure field teams use current, approved drawings, specifications, and resolved technical information.
  • Maintain design and submittal registers and align critical engineering reviews and approvals with procurement schedules and required-on-site dates.
  • Monitor technical constraints and drive timely resolution to minimize construction impacts.
  • Evaluate design changes for potential impacts to scope, cost, schedule, procurement, quality, and constructability.
  • Provide technical recommendations to the Project Manager regarding design changes and emerging project issues.
  • Support field engineering, layout, technical inspections, and issue resolution.
  • Support as-built documentation, commissioning activities, and turnover data requirements.
  • Coordinate technical requirements across field construction, engineering, procurement, and design disciplines.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues that could contribute to rework, schedule delays, or procurement conflicts.
  • Establish standards for technical reviews and engineering documentation.
  • Lead and mentor Project Engineers and Field Engineers in documentation quality, technical coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Promote consistent engineering and document-control practices throughout the project.
  • Support project performance objectives related to RFI and submittal turnaround, technical constraint closure, rework prevention, design-to-procurement alignment, field issue resolution, and as-built completeness.
  • Comply with site access, PPE, safety, security, and training requirements in an active construction environment.
  • Work extended hours, early starts, weekends, or schedule-recovery coverage when required by project phase or project requirements.
