About The Position

Regal is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their Observe/Evaluation team. This team is responsible for ensuring the functionality of voice agents in production. The role involves managing the observability tooling for visibility into agent behavior and evaluation frameworks for systematic quality measurement and improvement. The manager will also contribute to integrations connecting systems to the broader ecosystem and a customer-facing copilot product for agent iteration. The company, founded in 2020, is an AI Agent Platform focused on transforming customer communications with AI agents. They are backed by prominent investors and have partnered with major brands, achieving significant revenue and call volume.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in a relevant engineering role.
  • 1-3 years of experience managing a team.
  • Hands-on experience with Python and Typescript, capable of writing and debugging code at a senior level.
  • Solid experience with AWS, including services like Lambda and SQS, and streaming systems (e.g., Kinesis).
  • Comfort managing ambiguity in a developing field (observability + eval for AI agents).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and supporting their growth.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or building agentic applications.
  • Background in observability, monitoring, or evaluation tooling specifically.
  • Experience working adjacent to applied AI or ML teams.
  • Prior startup experience at the Series B–D stage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of 3-5 engineers, setting expectations, supporting career development, and maintaining a high hiring bar.
  • Own the execution of the observability and evaluation roadmap, including tooling for voice agent performance visibility and frameworks for systematic quality evaluation.
  • Remain hands-on enough to contribute to Python code, debug production issues, and make tactical contributions.
  • Partner with other product teams to translate voice-agent quality signals into actionable tooling and metrics.
  • Own the reliability and scalability of the team's integrations with external and internal systems.
  • Support the copilot product's roadmap in collaboration with Product, enabling customers to iterate on their voice agents.
  • Remove blockers for the team by adjusting processes, assisting with debugging, or resolving cross-functional friction.
  • Be actively involved in hiring, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
