About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking an Engineering Manager, Seismic. This is a remote role that is based near Arden NC, Fayetteville NC, Raleigh NC, Charlotte NC, Greenwood SC, or Sumter SC. The compliance to seismic requirements within the International and California Building codes for Eaton’s power distribution and control equipment is essential to market acceptance. The primary functions of the Seismic Specialist is ownership of the certification of products, provide technical leadership for the organization in the area of seismic requirements and support the product lines and the North American Sales Organization for all matters related to seismic. This scope of this role covers all of Eaton Electrical Americas product lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Statistics, or related field
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in engineering or quality
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in functional or technical leadership role
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates currently residing within a 50-mile radius of Arden NC, Fayetteville NC, Raleigh NC, Charlotte NC, Greenwood SC, or Sumter SC will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Nice To Haves

  • MS Degree
  • ASQ certification as CQM/OpEx preferred
  • 3+ years commercial experience preferred
  • 5+ years of functional/technical leadership experience
  • Demonstrated competence in the complete range of Six Sigma tools and process improvement techniques (DFSS, DMAIC, Lean, EMQS)

Responsibilities

  • Manage product certifications for regulatory compliance via leveraging external firms and testing laboratories.
  • Maintain and create technical collateral (technical papers, certificates, application guides, training material, etc.) related to seismic qualification and certification efforts in collaboration with Eaton’s Marcom team.
  • Support North American Sales organization and project negotiations with technical compliance where complex seismic specifications exist.
  • Represent Eaton in relevant Standards organizations (NEMA, IEEE, ASCE, etc.) where seismic compliance and test protocols exist.
  • Develop test plan with structure variants required to get full certification and make recommendations to product teams on product improvements to pass the seismic requirements first time.
  • Coordinate and execute shaker test programs as needed in collaboration with product line personnel, external laboratories and professional engineering firms.
  • Develop training modules and executes training as required to facilitate organizational development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key service providers.
