About The Position

To serve as manager of the Capital Project Management section within the State Construction Office. This section is composed of an Engineer III, Engineer II and Engineering Technician III. This position will be one of four Assistant Directors of the State Construction Office. This individual will serve as the Assistant Director in the management of the Capital Project Management Unit and delivering on the primary functions identified for this Unit, including the Architect and Engineering services for the Department of Administration assigned capital projects. The position is responsible for managing technical staff consisting of professional engineers, architects, engineering designers, and engineering technicians. Work will not be checked for accuracy within this position. It will, however, be reviewed only for context and content to ensure that recommendations in studies and reports are consistent with good Architecture and Engineering practice, office policy, and can be supported by the Director. Errors in work performed by this employee could be life-threatening, result in serious accidents, be costly to the State to correct, and could adversely affect long-range planning and construction development for all state facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and a minimum of seven years progressive engineering experience including four years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid NC Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Registration and Licensure as an Architect or Engineer in North Carolina.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in Architecture, Civil/Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Ten plus years of experience in Architecture or Engineering and administrative practice.
  • Extensive technical and working knowledge of the INTERSCOPE System.
