About The Position

The Family Experience pod sits within the Accounts team (part of the broader Safety organization) and is at the heart of building a safe and civil platform for users of all ages. As Roblox expands globally, we are dedicated to providing parents with the insights and controls they need to feel confident in their child's digital life. While we build the foundational systems for parental consent, safety controls, and activity insights, our vision is to move beyond just controls — promoting fun, shared family experiences that enable parents and children to play, learn, and connect together on the platform. The work of this pod is uniquely challenging and highly collaborative. We build products that maintain an incredibly high bar for intuitive, user-friendly experiences while navigating the complexities of rigorous global regulatory standards (such as COPPA and GDPR). You will lead a team of talented engineers to architect and scale these mission-critical systems, working in close partnership with teams all around Roblox to seamlessly integrate parental features into their product surface areas. Together, you will ensure parent trust and foster meaningful, civil family experiences on Roblox. One of the most consequential areas of ownership for this team is Verified Parental Consent (VPC). As regulators in markets around the globe increasingly require verified parental consent to unlock core platform features, the design and performance of our VPC flows have become a direct driver of Roblox's ability to operate and grow globally. The EM in this role will play a central part in re-imagining and scaling these flows, brainstorming and delivering improvements that aim to drive a step change in completion rates, unlocking access for millions of families worldwide.

Requirements

A proven track record of building and scaling high-performing full-stack engineering teams as a hands-on, technical leader.
Mentoring and growing engineers, while remaining technically authoritative.
Comfortable contributing code, leading rigorous architectural reviews, and diving deep into complex system challenges alongside your team.
Strong product intuition and technical depth, with the ability to translate product vision into robust, scalable technical specifications.
A systems-thinking, platform-oriented approach to building features, providing architectural guidance and hands-on support to ensure the team builds reusable APIs and components.
The technical-strategy and problem-solving instincts to navigate complex system constraints, dive into logs or code to unblock the team, and partner effectively with Product Managers to make the right trade-offs.
Comfort operating in high-ambiguity, growth-oriented environments where you need to balance rapid iteration with long-term system stability and team development.

Nice To Haves

Regulatory Expertise: Experience working in domains impacted by complex legal or regulatory compliance (e.g., Privacy, Safety, Fintech, or Identity).
Global Scale: Experience leading teams building high-availability systems for a global user base across diverse geographies and languages.
0-to-1 Experience: A track record of taking new products or major platform-level feature sets from initial concept to successful global launch.
Massive Throughput: Experience architecting services that handle hundreds of thousands or even millions of requests per second with strict latency requirements.
