About The Position

Fullscript is a health technology company whose platform supports practitioners and patients with clinical insights, lab interpretations, patient analytics, education, and access to supplements. The backend infrastructure team enables fast, reliable product development by setting engineering standards and maintaining the long-term technical health of Fullscript’s core Ruby on Rails application and the developer experience within it. The Engineering Manager will lead the backend infrastructure team, combining people leadership, technical direction, and project execution. The role includes developing engineers, setting the team roadmap, and guiding improvements to application health and developer productivity. The manager will stay close to technical work through solution design, code review, and hands-on contributions, and will partner with engineering leaders and product teams to prioritize platform investments and connect technical improvements to business needs. The role emphasizes understanding developers’ day-to-day problems, producing measurable outcomes from platform work, and making standards practical through tooling and clear communication. Modernization should be incremental and purposeful, with adoption, documentation, and support treated as part of delivery. The manager is expected to balance current commitments with long-term maintenance needs while fostering technical ownership and clear decision-making.

  • Coordinate cross-team projects and make scope, ownership, dependencies, risks, and progress clear.
  • Partner with product engineering teams to resolve recurring technical problems and support adoption of shared tools and standards.
  • Define and track meaningful outcomes, such as faster feedback cycles, fewer recurring failures, and less time spent working around platform limitations.
  • Involve developers in shaping solutions to their day-to-day problems.
  • Connect platform investments to developer productivity, application reliability, and product delivery.
  • Make modernization incremental and purposeful, weighing benefits, costs, and migration risks.
