About The Position

Eaton's AER MSD Mission System Division is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR) team in Davenport, IA. This role reports to the Senior Engineering Manager - Wimborne and is responsible for leading the development of AAR systems and products, including hose and drogue systems, fuel tanks, and refueling probes. The position focuses on organizational capability development, global Aerospace alignment, improved program execution through disciplined engineering processes, risk management, and portfolio/resource planning. Key areas include implementing organizational performance measures, developing best cost country (BCC) engineering capabilities, refining technology strategy, and advancing engineering capabilities for next-generation products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 10 years of experience within aerospace or a high-tech industry with new product development and sustaining support.
  • 5 years of experience leading or managing people (direct or indirect).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible and considered for this position pursuant to applicable U.S. Federal Government contract requirements.

  • Advanced engineering degree or MBA.
  • 15 years of experience within the aerospace industry including experience in Air-to-Air Refueling and Systems Engineering.
  • Experience in MBSE.
  • 6 years of experience leading or managing people (direct or indirect).

Responsibilities

  • Lead a global team of up to 40 engineering staff in the development of AAR systems and components, covering customer engagement, bid and proposal activities, product development, qualification, and support to sustaining engineering.
  • Lead development program execution using robust design practices and efficient methods.
  • Organize and build talent within the AAR engineering team, creating opportunities for growth and development, and providing functional leadership.
  • Ensure efforts to improve Engineering function efficiency through creative organizational management, effective use of tools, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive consistency and best practices across the organization for product documentation, design standards, and material specifications on a global basis.
  • Ensure product designs are globally competitive in quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Establish customer relationships for successful product execution.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Manager – AAR Wimborne on development projects, innovation, and processes.
  • Collaborate with peers across MSD to build skill depth, share best practices, and assist in achieving Site and Divisional goals.
  • Utilize best practices of robust design (Design for Six Sigma, DFSS) and promote an "analysis first" mindset.
  • Build capability in the AAR team using digital processes aligned with the Aerospace Group strategy, such as MBD and MBSE.
  • Ensure proprietary rights and product liability concerns are addressed by interacting with corporate legal staff.
  • Establish an engineering strategy and implement tactical measures for its realization.
  • Lead team efforts supporting the growth and productivity of the Pune, India engineering center.
  • Identify key engineering metrics, monitor performance, and implement improvements.
  • Maintain liaison with the Operational Excellence organization for quality and manufacturing cost reductions.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with Universities for advanced product development and potential new hires.
  • Other duties as assigned.
